Creatress
$1225.00
She came to me fully formed — this creator woman holding a long handled brush or pen. With painted skin and a downward gaze, she is carrying something heavy and beautiful at the same time. I was thinking about mother of creation, and the ways she would adorn herself, or maybe when we want to feel something more ancient than ourselves. The face paint isn’t costume — it’s armor, it’s prayer, it’s identity. I wanted her to feel like she had just stepped out of a ritual and into a quiet moment of reflection, that in-between space where the sacred and the creative overlap.
Painted in oils from my studio in Taos, New Mexico, this piece utilizes cool greens and deep shadows with those touches of red that keep pulling your eye back — the lips, the beads, the headdress. There’s an intimacy to her even though she won’t meet your gaze. She brings a mood of stillness and mystery to a space, the kind of energy that makes a room feel layered and alive. If you’ve ever been drawn to work that makes you sit with a question rather than hand you an answer, she might belong with you. Original oil on stretched canvas, 16 × 20 inches, framed and ready to make a wall feel like it means something.
